This week we're celebrating our Summer Translation Choice REAL by Karin Karakașlı, translated by Canan Marasligil with Sarah Howe, published by the Poetry Translation Centre. These highly cinematic poems are powered by music, metaphor and a fascination with language itself. Running through her work is a deeply held belief in the emancipatory potential of words.
Karin was born in Istanbul in 1972. From 1996 to 2006 and from 2012 to 2015 she worked at the Turkish-Armenian newspaper Agos. She is the author of three poetry collections as well as several short story collections and novels.
