Red Carpet by Steve Malmude, edited by Miles Champion
Published 31st July 2025. Available for pre-order.
Red Carpet includes the best of this under-recognised poet's work written over some sixty-five years, between 1958 and 2023. Steve Malmude is something of a well-kept secret in the history and lineage of the second-generation New York School, having published far less than such peers as John Godfrey and Ted Greenwald (and having left New York City for Maine in 2002). He writes slowly and carefully, and his ambition is focused on his poems, rather than such trappings as literary recognition or career. Red Carpet aims to introduce this poet's extraordinary work to a wider audience, and is his first substantial book publication in the UK, following the publication of a pamphlet, Lifeguard, in 2023.
