My My My Life by Alasdair Paterson
In his official life, Alasdair Paterson was born in Edinburgh and worked as an academic librarian in Liverpool, Cork, Sheffield and Exeter, where he still lives and where he runs the Uncut Poets series of poetry readings. Over the years, he has grown a beard and become quite old.
In My My My Life the author treats us to a cornucopia of existential titbits, real or imaginary – from questions of pirate and Pictish identity to riffs on twilight and the twilight years, via an involuntary appearance in a Breughel painting, the poetic output of a mad king and dinner in a Titanic-themed restaurant.
