This is Conn’s fourth pamphlet with Mariscat and it delves, with characteristic style, tenderness and humour, into the poet’s central concerns: the natural world, family, love, and the ephemeral nature of all life. Conn was Edinburgh’s inaugural Makar (or Poet Laureate). His many books include The Touch of Time: Selected Poems (Bloodaxe) and a recent anthology of Scottish island poems, Other Worlds (Polygon).
