As part of this month’s PBS Women in Translation Month project, we aim to highlight the best poetry by women in translation of the last year, more precisely from September 2018 to August 2019 included.

If you do not know where to start to support women in translation, below are the first five suggestions out of our women in translation top ten!

#10 Bomarzo by Elsa Cross, translated from Spanish by Lawrence Schimel (Shearsman Books, March 2019);

#9 Autobiography of Death by Kim Hyesoon, translated from Korean by Don Mee Choi (W.W. Norton & Company, November 2018);

#8 the hammer and other poems by Adelaide Ivánova, translated from Portuguese by Rachel Long and Francisco Vilhena (Poetry Translation Centre, April 2019);

#7 After Russia (The Second Notebook) by Marina Tsvetaeva, translated from Russian by Christopher Whyte (Shearsman Books, November 2018);

#6 Isabella, poems by Isabella Morra, translated from Italian by Caroline Maldonado (Smokestack Books, June 2019).
