Martina Evans was born in Cork and lives in London. She is the author of thirteen books of poetry and prose. American Mules (2021) won the Pigott Poetry Prize. She is poetry critic for the Irish Times and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Her latest collection, Drunken Driving was our PBS Choice for Summer 2026.
Jackie Kay was born in Edinburgh. Between 2016 and 2021 she was the third modern Makar, National Poet of Scotland. She lives in Manchester and is Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Salford. Her latest collection, May Day was a PBS Recommendation for Summer 2024. Her Selected Poems is published by Picador this October and is a PBS Special Commendation for Winter 2026.
