It's the LAST DAY to enter the Mslexia & PBS Women's Poetry Pamphlet Prize, so here's our final instalment of our #poetips to inspire those of you who are still considering entering.
Today, we're talking to last year's Women's Pamphlet Prize winner, Bryony Littlefair.
"I almost didn't enter the pamphlet competition, because I thought I'd never win, procrastinating submitting a manuscript until the very final day. I'm very very glad I did."
Bryony Littlefair won the Mslexia Pamphlet Competition in 2017 and her pamphlet Giraffe was published with Seren and is available to order here. Her poems have appeared in the New Welsh Reader, Popshot Magazine, Ink, Sweat and Tears and elsewhere. She works at literature charity The Reader and at a community centre in Kilburn.
Here are Bryony's words of wisdom to motivate you to enter that pamphlet manuscript you've been hiding away:
"Publication matters. It's been a huge validation of my work and how I feel about it. Seren have been wonderful and winning the prize has brought about opportunities for readings and performances I wouldn't otherwise have had. And nothing feels lovelier than a stranger getting in touch with you to tell you they loved your poems."
Bryony Littlefair is also kindly donating 1 FREE ENTRY intended to help someone who is struggling to pay the £20 entry fee. For a chance to win this free place, please email pbsprizes@inpressbooks.co.uk with the subject line BRYONYDONATION and outline why you feel you are eligible for this hardship fund. We only have 1 free entry available and will assign it on a first come basis. Best of luck to everyone submitting their pamphlets and poetry today.
Enter your poems HERE before MIDNIGHT today, 14th September.
