Poetry Card for All Occasions: William Wordsworth, ‘The Daffodils’
William Wordsworth (1770 – 1850) was an English Romantic poet. He lived in the Lake District and it was there that his most famous lyric poem, The Daffodils, was written, after a walk with his sister Dorothy. Dorothy’s diary describes how they saw a “long belt” of daffodils during their walk.
Appropriately, this card, like all of our cards, is made of paper sourced from a paper mill in the Lake District.
Illustrator Jan Brewerton has captured the life of the poem, with a mass of daffodils “fluttering and dancing in the breeze”. Jan did a B.A. in Fine Art at Coventry University and, after two years living and teaching in Italy, completed her post-graduate studies at Goldsmith's College, London.
