Microscopic Peaceful Implosions by Beth Dufford
Microscopic Peaceful Implosions opens and closes with prayers, though something is off. One is titled, 'Prayr', and the other, 'Prair'; a sign that things are not precisely as they seem. Written between November 2016 and April 2017, these poems are the author's catalogue of impressions and reactions to what seems to be a new world, possibly a post-America America. They re relayed in traditional forms, free verse, riffs on canonical works, and found language, with the occasional dystopia-tinged daydream thrown in for good measure.
Beth Dufford grew up in New Jersey and currently lives, works, and writes in New York City. Her work has appeared in Barrow Street, The Little Magazine, Rise Up Reviewand Common Ground Review.
