T S Eliot Prize Reading Groups

Discover the pleasures of poetry with the T S Eliot Prize reading groups

Whether you're a member of a poetry reading group, in a reading group that would like to try poetry, or just setting one up, you can still download the notes for the 2015 T S Eliot Prize here, including three poems from each shortlisted book, together with reading group notes on the poems, a biography and photo of each poet.

Our Reading Groups Competition encourages your reading group to shadow the judges for the prize by discussing the poetry on the list. We want to know who your group decided should win with a short write-up of your session, detailing your personal choice of winner and any key conversations or disagreements you had along the way.

This year's competition has closed and will reopen when the 2016 shortlist is announced. Congratulations to the Penzance and Newlyn Poetry Group who won this year's competition!

Last year's winners, the Indian King Poets in North Cornwall, enjoyed a visit from the winner of the 2014 Prize, David Harsent.

We offer a choice of two very special prizes this year for the winning Reading Group:

  • Up to 10 tickets for your reading group to attend the T S Eliot Prize Readings at London's Royal Festival Hall*

    or
  • Two signed sets of the 10 shortlisted titles

In a reading group but new to poetry? thinking about starting your own reading group? We've some very helpful advice from Pam Johnson on how to set up and run a poetry reading group.

Sign up now for a special weekly T S Eliot Prize newsletter on our sister site, www.poetrybookshoponline.com, which will cover the ten poets in turn and keep you up-to-date with news on the Prize. Every month from the end of October the PBS will give a pair of tickets for the celebratory T S Eliot Prize Readings to a new newsletter subscriber selected at random.
