T S Eliot Prize Winner Announced

The Poetry Book Society is delighted to announce that the winner of the T S Eliot Prize 2007,is Sean O'Brien for his collection The Drowned Book .

Now in its fifrteenth year, the T S Eliot Prize is 'poetry's most coveted award' (Jane Wheatley, The Times)

After several hours of deliberation and much lively debate, the judges of the 2007 prize, Peter Porter , Sujata Bhatt and W N Herbert , reached a consensus. The winner was announced at an award ceremony in central London on Monday 14th January, where Sean accepted a cheque for £15,000 from T S Eliot’s widow, Mrs Valerie Eliot. Now
