EDUCATION

PBS and Schools

Are you a teacher trying to get to grips with teaching poetry in the classroom?

The PBS provides special Education memberships to make it easier to teach poetry in class. The PBS Education membership is for older students of 16+ and provides teaching materials and all the facilities of full membership, with the Choice sent four times a year, together with teaching tips and posters. The Bulletin review of the new poetry arrives every quarter and members get a 25% discount on any books they order.

The PBS also runs the Children’s Poetry Bookshelf for 7-11 year-olds. The CPB Education membership provides Primary school teachers with the best new children’s poetry books three times a year. Teachers also get child-friendly worksheets ready to use in class, and teachers’ notes.

There’s a lively website www.childrenspoetrybookshelf.co.uk with more resources, including a reading list for teachers, and the CPB also runs an annual children’s poetry competition.
