Guidelines governing the selection of the quarterly Pamphlet Choice award.

Procedure

a) Submissions are invited for the PBS Pamphlet Choice category, made every quarter.

b) The publication date of all submissions must fall within the relevant PBS quarter: Spring (January - March), Summer (April - June), Autumn (July - September), or Winter (October - December).

c) Titles may be submitted in manuscript, pageproof, typescript or fully finished form. Three copies of each submission together with a completed submissions form must be received at the PBS office on or before the date announced in the publicised timetables.

Eligibility
a) As long as they fulfil our submission and supply criteria, poetry publications eligible for this scheme include (but are not limited to) pamphlets, chapbooks, small press publications, community publications, illustrated works, art books, non-traditional book formats. Please contact the PBS office if you wish to discuss the definition of your particular publication.

b) Single poems, single author collections, joint author publications, translations and anthologies are all eligible.

c) This is the only PBS category to which self-published work can be submitted.

d) There is no lower page limit, but publications with more than 32 pages are not eligible.

e) There are no upper or lower limits on publication price.

f) Regularly published magazines or journals are not eligible.

g) Poems or translations must be new work, and not have been published before.

h) Posthumous work is eligible only if published within 6 months of the poet's death.

i) Submitted work must be first published in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland. This includes simultaneous publication (within 8 months) in other countries.

Selection

a) Selections will be made by a panel of two poets, appointed by the PBS.

b) The most notable pamphlet publication every quarter will be awarded the 'Poetry Book Society Pamphlet Choice'.

c) Selectors will serve for two years each.
